The human brain is the most complex and amazing organ in the known universe. The human brain is divided into two halves: the right hemisphere and the left hemisphere, along with the brainstem. Think of your brain like a organization made up of two major companies (Company Left Brain and Company Right Brain). The organization and it’s companies are first built/developed, structurally, from the ground up and then they are managed, functionally, from the top down. This is analogous to the structure and function of each human being. Your subconscious, primitive/lizard brain (brainstem) is developed first (at the bottom) and your conscious, and big brain (cortex) is developed second (at the top). This is known as “bottom/up development”. Once the organization and companies are “built” then the goal for the first three decades of life, and beyond, is to train, equip, resource, integrate and further develop the skills and functions of each “team member” that exists within Human Being, Inc. This is known as “top/down management”.
The ultimate goal is to foster and promote efficient and optimal functional…for life.
The right hemisphere (Company Right Brain) is much more present, connected to the human family and streams all of our sensory systems into a collage of the here and now. Conversely, the left hemisphere (Company Left Brain) works linearly and methodically and is all about the past and the future. The left is designed to take that right hemisphere’s collage of the present moment and start picking out, categorizing and organizing its details. The right hemisphere is much more positive and self-fulfilled, where as the left hemisphere helps us to be pragmatic, practical and self-directed. Utilizing both hemispheres for “”whole brain living”” allows us to create meaningful relationships and outcomes in our personal and professional lives.”

I am an identical twin who immigrated to the mountains of Northeast Tennessee as a 7-year-old white refugee from Zaire with my parents, older brother, Bi-Polar grandmother, a $100 and two suitcases, I lost my father at 14, and I had my first debilitating migraine when I was 17. Since then I’ve averaged a separate migraine every 3-4 days with chronic, daily pain and fatigue between.
My brothers and I worked with my father in his metalworking foundry daily from age 8-14, and I began working in restaurants at 14 after my father passed away. I worked in various restaurants until 18, and I eventually moved from inbound customer service positions via telephone from 18-20 during undergraduate to a mental hospital third-shift psychiatric technician from 20-22.
I then moved into direct and consumer sales positions from 22-26. I eventually pursued, at 26-31, as a full-time graduate student completing my doctoral/professional degree in 2014. From 31-33 I was a Lead Clinician and Executive Director simultaneously of a multi-state clinic system with 55 employees treating complex neurological cases. I have been in the private clinical practice owner of Thrive Neuro Health and content creator for Thrive Neurotheology since Fall of 2016.
I received an undergraduate degree in Digital Animation and Multimedia/Special Effects. This degree was followed by a doctoral degree in the field of Chiropractic. This was followed by post-graduate work that resulted in a Board Certification in Functional Neurology with specializations/concentrations in childhood developmental disorders, vestibular rehabilitation, movement disorders, neurochemistry, concussion and brain injury rehabilitation.
As a complex neurological patient, I lived in a medical purgatory. On one hand, I encountered a gifted, traditional, medical model capable of triage/damage control but with no answers to a patient who wasn’t a candidate for drugs or surgery. On the other hand, I found an innovative, alternative healthcare model capable of wellness and rehab but without the understanding of how to care for complex cases.
So, I pursued a doctorate in Chiropractic with a post-graduate Board Certification in Functional Neurology. I decided to care for those on the margins who were abandoned, lost, misunderstood in the healthcare arena. I learned that our minds, bodies, and souls are more capable of recovery than we ever imagined. The experience has and still gives me hope.
I have experienced the loss of a father, the loss of my wife’s parents, watched my identical twin lose a marriage after the loss of a child, suffered an average of 110-120 full blown migraines per year for nearly two decades, and raised a teenager from 13-19, whom my wife and I took full guardianship when she was 20 and I was 22. In the midst of all of it I struggled, fought and still found God in the midst of all of it. As a result, I became a clinician who desires nothing more than to ease the hurt of those I encounter. I have learned that some may recover from pain, others may suffer through it, and some may die as a result. I participate by wholistically meeting, serving, and hopefully healing others along their journey in mind, body, and soul.
After years of attempting to resolve/cure my own migraines and chronic pain, I still haven’t succeeded. I have seen patients recover sight, get out of wheelchairs, brain injuries fully healed, hope restored after decades of hopelessness, and yet…I have failed to find my own solution. The nature of this dichotomy between healer and broken patient, faithful believer and skeptic has taught me that sometimes the answer is no. Sometimes we are called to long-suffering and in that perseverance, our character is developed, and eventually, we produce hope. I know that every person I have touched and changed clinically has happened as a direct result of my own suffering, and that doesn’t make it any easier but it has taught me how to cultivate my hope.
Thrive Neuro Health is located in Atlanta, GA where we partner with patients and their families, entrepreneurs, makers, leaders, and communities to achieve their individual goals through optimized brain and body function. I formerly served as the Executive Director for Cerebrum Health Centers, as well as the Clinic Director of their Atlanta facility. I have a passion for equipping, empowering, and encouraging colleagues, entrepreneurs and students to serve their patients, local communities, and their staff through continued training in the practical applications of functional neurology.
My clinical focus is to help patients, such as myself, through Functional Neurology. I am a graduate of Life University and I hold an active diplomate from the ACNB in Functional Neurology. I have completed more than a 1,200 hours of post-graduate continuing education in Functional Neurology with concentrations in Childhood Developmental Disorders (specifically Autism), Vestibular Rehabilitation, Movement Disorders, Neurochemistry, Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation. Additionally, I have been teaching and lecturing to colleagues, entrepreneurs, and students for over 7 years in the core concepts of Functional Neurology as it applies to practical, daily application.
I am most proud of the environment Thrive creates where patients and families feel like part of the community. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for those who have been to more providers than they care to count, and so often find themselves dreading a “visit to the doctor”. I am also proud of the way in which we equip our patients to succeed on their own. At Thrive, we create custom home-exercise programs that are unique to each individual with both written and videotaped instructions for easy understanding and implementation.
What sets me apart is that I am the only Board Certified Functional Neurologist within the Atlanta perimeter (ITP).
Thrive has moved from Downtown Decatur to East Atlanta Village in a beautiful and spacious 2,300 square foot facility. With the increase in space, I am looking forward to bringing in additional like-minded providers and creating a multi-disciplinary integrated practice to serve the Atlanta community.
Additionally, I will be working to establish an Internship and Accredited Residency Program to continue training and equipping new clinicians to excel in the unique work we do at Thrive. There simply needs to be more of us doing this kind of work/intervention.
My wife and I are expecting our second child in the Spring next year and are extremely excited about that. We currently have one child, Bennett, who just turned two.

Repetitive peripheral somatosensory stimulation (RPSS) a unique, low-dose electrical stimulation aimed to activate different areas of the nervous system. RPSS is one of many low-dose electrical stimulation devices used in order to decrease pain, activate or inhibit muscles, and activate specific areas of your nervous system.
The Neuro Sensory-Motor Integrator is an interactive computerized system that aims to improve your visual abilities and visual-related learning problems. A 50-inch, touch screen monitor and a variety of programs are utilized to create a custom and interactive experience for each patient, The NSI system is used to to assess and optimize hand-eye coordination, visual scanning and tracking, reaction time, as well as auditory and visual memory.
Thrive Neuro Health utilizes HyperVibe Technology. Whole body vibrational therapy has been shown to stimulate muscles, increase gravitational load, mobilize joints and muscles, as well as rapid heating of joints and muscles. The key to Whole Body Vibration effectiveness is G-force. Hypervibe machines deliver up to 17G’s of G-force which outperforms most leading competitors in the market.
Adjustments/manipulations to our joints have been shown to be beneficial for a variety of musculoskeletal complaints, but did you know they are also able to positively impact your brain function? Contemporary research has suggested that the effects of a chiropractic adjustment and other manual therapies are able to provide meaningful change to our central nervous system, including our brain. This research has shown that Chiropractic adjustments are able to change our brain function and communication. The foundational concept of Chiropractic Neurology rests in our understanding that the clinical application of a chiropractic adjustment may impact the nervous system and help improve a patient’s life and well-being.
Our brain function is heavily dependent on our innate and developed abilities to appropriately react, whether it be physically, emotionally, mentally or even subconsciously. Decreases in our reaction times can often be associated with a decrease in performance, overall brain efficiency, and an increase in the potential for future injuries. Thrive Neuro Health use different therapies to assist in objectively improving your reaction times.
One of the most advanced features of our brain function is our ability to make and maintain eye contact. Our visual system is intricately connected to our movement, balance, coordination, musculoskeletal, cognitive, emotional and even digestive systems. When problems present themselves in our visual system we may not even be aware of their impact. Inaccuracies in our visual system can produce a multitude of issues such as, but not limited to: neck pain, decreased energy, headaches, balance and coordination problems, focus and concentration, changes in reaction time physically, emotionally and mentally, fatigue, and even anxiety. At Thrive we utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and expert clinical observation to create custom-tailored rehabilitation strategies with the goal of improving the baseline function of your visual system.
Many neurological disorders have direct and indirect consequences to our musculoskeletal system. This can result in a variety of inexplicable body complaints. At Thrive Neuro Health we are trained to provide myofascial therapies and interventions designed to improve the function and utilization of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, fascia and nerves.
Walking is nothing more than an incredibly well orchestrated series of falls. When our brains struggle to function at full capacity one of the first signs/symptoms to appear can be seen in our ability to walk without issue. Challenges in our gait/walking can profoundly impact our activities of daily living and create downstream changes in other areas such as: musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, cognition, falls, and much more. As such, our goal at Thrive is to provide you with a comprehensive evaluation of your gait and ensure you are walking with as much confidence and stability as possible.
Movement is the primary system that allows our brain to grow, develop and integrate into every aspect of our experience as human beings. We are professionally trained in current and relevant treatment applications designed to improve your balance, movement, coordination and awareness of space. These systems integrate to create what is known as your vestibular system. Dizziness, vertigo and imbalance are common problem associated with your vestibular system and such issues may result not only in severe impairments but also to secondary psychological problems. Our goal at Thrive is to improve and optimize your movement.
Every single aspect of how we think, feel and act is dependent on our comprehensive and integrated neurological systems and their extensive connections. Therefore, every patient seen at Thrive Neuro Health receives a comprehensive neurologic and physical examination in order to adequately assess their unique and current state of structure, function and overall performance.

Hearing and balance deficits are often associated with auditory problems that go unevaluated. Auditory system deficits can also be one of the first signs of disease, even if someone is asymptomatic. Our clinicians conduct a hearing assessment in order to assess the integrity of your auditory system.
Video-oculography (VOG) is a computerized test which records a variety of eye movements to ensure objective and accurate assessment of your visual system. Thrive Neuro Health has extensive expertise in understanding the neurology of eye movements which allows for an in-depth evaluation of integrated systems related to the overall function of your nervous system.
The C3 Logix system is a comprehensive assessment of cognitive function, balance, vision and reaction time.
Thrive Neuro Health will do a comprehensive review of your clinical records prior to your initial visit and discuss further relevant details during your on site case review.
